Carte interactive su pays de Seyssel

Cultural heritage

Present since ancient times on both banks of the Rhône, the town Seyssel was savoyarde and then French until 1760 when the Rhône became the frontier between the states of Savoy and the kingdom of France ; this first separation of Seyssel led to the distinction between Seyssel Haute-Savoie (left bank) and Seyssel France (right bank).

A century later when Savoy joined France (1860), 150th anniversary in 2010, and the creation of the departement of Haute-Savoie and Seyssel Ain.

The Guides du Patrimoine des Pays de Savoie (heritage guides), will explain this rich history during your visit.
The Pays de Seyssel has other treasures for its visitors, such as the Château de Clermont. The only witness of Italian renaissance in Haute-Savoie, Clermont castle will help you relive the story of Monseigneur Gallois de Regard, bishop of Clermont, who was called to Rome by the Pope.

Old houses, churches, chapels, wash-houses and bridges will unveil their secrets as you travel through our villages.
